You’ll step onto Anfield’s Main Stand roof for a 100ft abseil with city views and expert guidance — heart racing guaranteed. After your descent, explore Liverpool FC’s museum at your own pace with entry included. See legendary trophies up close and relive moments from club history before heading back out into Liverpool’s buzz.
You don’t really get used to the wind up there — not even after a few deep breaths. The top of Anfield’s Main Stand is higher than I’d pictured, and Liverpool just sort of sprawls out beneath you in every direction. Our instructor, Mark, clipped me in and joked about the “best seat in the house.” I tried to laugh but my hands were sweaty, gripping the rope harder than I meant to. You can see the huge LFC crest right there as you step over the edge. It’s weirdly comforting, actually.
The first few meters down were all adrenaline and awkward shuffling — my legs felt like jelly, but Mark kept shouting encouragement from above. There was this moment halfway where I stopped and just looked out: roofs glinting in the sun, a couple of gulls wheeling around like they owned the place. My friend Tom yelled something about “don’t look down,” which obviously made me do exactly that. And yeah, it’s a long way down — but honestly, by then I was grinning like an idiot.
Touching ground again felt almost too soon. They unhooked us and handed over our tickets for the LFC Museum (included with the abseil). Inside, it’s quieter — you can still hear distant echoes from outside, but mostly it’s just you and all this history. There are trophies everywhere (the European ones really do shine), old kits behind glass, even a hologram of Klopp saying something in that accent of his. I tried reading some of the plaques but got distracted by a little kid explaining tactics to his dad in front of Shankly’s statue. That part stuck with me for some reason.
