The experience

The Polo Experience starts with professional instruction from HPA-accredited coaches who teach riding, swing mechanics, hitting and polo tactics in a single session. You work with friendly polo ponies suited to all levels, whether you've never been on a horse or you ride regularly. The 90-minute package includes the horse, helmet, mallet and full coaching, so you show up and learn. Nothing else needs arranging beforehand.

Groups of four to six work best for the camaraderie and shared learning, though individuals and corporate teams book it too. The setting is Minninnooka in Surrey, positioned only an hour from London just off the M3, so the travel time stays short. A pre-ordered lunch from Clara's Cocina (Argentine café menu) rounds out the afternoon, giving you a chance to decompress after the riding.

The experience suits anyone curious about polo but unsure if they can do it: beginners and experienced riders are equally welcome, and the coaches pitch instruction to where you actually are. Children from age 8 can join. Guides speak English and Spanish. A weight limit of 90kg applies, and the activity is not recommended for people with spinal injuries, poor cardiovascular health or pregnancy.
