The experience
You're picked up at 4:30 am from your Sharm el Sheikh hotel and driven to the airport for the 6 am Egypt Air flight to Luxor. About an hour in the air. A guide meets you on arrival and takes you straight to the west bank of the Nile to start at the Valley of the Kings, where you'll walk through three separate tombs carved into the rock. The scale of what's buried there (the sheer depth of the chambers, the painted walls) becomes real only when you're standing inside them.
From the Valley, you move to the Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el Bahary, the mortuary temple of Egypt's female pharaoh, built into the cliff face itself. A short stop at the Colossi of Memnon follows on the way back. Two massive seated statues that have stood on the plain for over three thousand years. After lunch at a local restaurant, you cross to the eastern bank to spend time at Karnak Temple, one of the largest religious complexes ever built, with its own sacred lake. The guide walks you through the scale and the layers of construction across centuries.
You transfer to Luxor airport for the return flight to Sharm el Sheikh, arriving back at your hotel in the evening. The whole day (flight, four major sites, lunch and all the transfers) runs about eleven hours door to door. Your guide speaks English, Spanish, Italian, French or one of two other languages, depending on which you choose at checkout.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian and Russian.
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Infant (under 4).
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What exactly will I see inside the tombs in the Valley of the Kings?
The Valley of the Kings holds three tombs on this tour, each one a separate underground chamber carved into the bedrock. You'll walk into the burial rooms themselves and see the painted walls and hieroglyphics that have survived thousands of years, though the sarcophagi were removed long ago.
How much walking is involved across the four sites?
Walking varies by site. The Valley of the Kings involves descending into and moving through three separate tombs. The Temple of Hatshepsut requires climbing its terraced ramps and walking through the colonnaded chambers. Karnak Temple is a large complex, so you'll cover ground there as well. The Colossi of Memnon is a brief stop. Comfortable shoes and water are essential.
Is the guide included, or do I pay extra for one?
A qualified Egyptologist guide in your chosen language is included in the tour. The guide meets you at Luxor airport and leads you through all four sites, explaining the history and significance of each one.
What's the difference between the two purchase options?
One option includes flights, entrance fees and lunch. The other adds the private guide and private air-conditioned vehicle transfers to that package. Both options include hotel pickup and drop-off from Sharm el Sheikh.
Will there be time to rest or shop in Luxor itself?
The itinerary focuses on the four major archaeological sites and doesn't include free time for shopping or exploring Luxor town. The day is structured around the flight times and the sites themselves, with lunch as the main break.
How early do I need to be ready for pickup?
Hotel pickup is at 4:30 am to get you to Sharm el Sheikh airport in time for the 6 am domestic flight to Luxor. You'll need to be ready and waiting at that time.
