Step-by-step itinerary
Visit Hurghada Grand Aquarium
- Arrive at Hurghada Grand Aquarium
- Explore 24 galleries of marine life
- Walk through underwater tunnel
- See nurse sharks, stingrays, turtles
- Experience touch tank interaction
- Enjoy all-year, all-weather attraction
The experience
The core of the aquarium is a 24-meter curved walkway tunnel where the water surrounds you on three sides and overhead: sharks, rays, turtles and smaller fish move through the filtered seawater above your head as you walk. The tunnel is the centerpiece, but the full experience spans 24 galleries arranged to show different ecosystems, each one built around a different group of animals. The aquarium holds over 100 individual animals representing 1,200 species across marine and freshwater exhibits.
Beyond the tunnel, the touch tank is where the activity shifts: you get hands-on access to live rays and sharks in shallow water, handling them under supervision. This is not a passive walk-through. The whole visit runs about two hours, and the facility stays open year-round from 9am until 6pm, so you can go in the morning heat or later in the afternoon. A live guide in English or Spanish walks with your group and explains what you're seeing.
Entry, all fees and taxes are included in the ticket price. You'll need to arrange your own transport to the aquarium or book a separate transfer. The ticket itself does not cover hotel pickup. Food and drinks are not included, though the facility is designed for families and all-day visits.

Is this one for you?The aquarium is self-guided through the galleries but led by a guide who explains what you're seeing, which suits families and anyone who wants context for the animals rather than a solo walk. The touch tank is hands-on, so you're not just watching. You're in the water with the animals, which is what separates this from a typical aquarium visit where everything stays behind glass.
Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English and Spanish.
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (6 to 11 years). Children under 6 can't be included in the booking.

It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What animals can I actually touch in the touch tank?
Rays and sharks are the main animals in the touch tank where visitors handle them in shallow water. The aquarium also houses nurse sharks, stingrays, green sea turtles, eagle rays and shovel-nose guitar sharks in the main galleries, though those are viewed from outside the tank.
Is the tunnel the only place where I see the fish, or are there other exhibits?
The tunnel is the signature experience, but the aquarium spreads across 24 separate galleries, each depicting a different natural ecosystem. The tunnel is the centerpiece, and the galleries surround it with additional species and habitats.
How long does the whole visit take?
Plan for about two hours to move through the galleries, walk the tunnel and spend time at the touch tank. The aquarium is open 9am to 6pm daily, so you can arrive whenever suits your schedule.
Do I need to arrange my own way to get there from my hotel?
Yes. The ticket includes entry and the guide, but not hotel pickup or transport to the aquarium. You'll need to book a separate transfer or arrange your own ride to reach the facility.
