The experience

The day starts with hotel pickup in Luxor and a flight to Cairo. Once you land, a guide meets you and takes you straight to the Giza Pyramids: the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the Pyramid of Khafre and the Pyramid of Menkaure, along with the Great Sphinx. The site sits on the Giza Plateau and includes the remains of workers' villages and several smaller pyramid complexes built during Egypt's Fourth Dynasty. You'll have time to walk the grounds and see the monuments up close before moving to the next stop.

After the pyramids, the tour includes entry to the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square, the largest museum in Africa. The collection holds over 120,000 Egyptian antiquities, and you'll see Pharaoh Tutankhamun's treasure. The gold burial mask is among the most recognizable artifacts in the world. Lunch is provided during the day. Later, the guide takes you to Khan el-Khalili, the historic bazaar in central Cairo where artisans still make traditional crafts and souvenirs. You'll have time to walk the market before heading back to the airport for your return flight to Luxor and hotel drop-off.

The tour runs 10 to 15 hours door-to-door, so you're traveling and sightseeing for most of the day. A live guide in your chosen language stays with you throughout. Hotel pickup and drop-off in Luxor, all entry fees, bottled water and lunch are included in the price. You'll need a copy of your passport photo to confirm the booking.

How much time do I actually spend at the Giza Pyramids?

The itinerary includes a full stop at the Giza Pyramids complex, where you walk among the Great Pyramid, Pyramid of Khafre, Pyramid of Menkaure and the Great Sphinx. The exact duration depends on your pace and interests, but it's a substantial portion of the day before you move on to the museum.
