The experience

The tour starts at your hotel in Luxor, where your guide meets you and drives you to the Luxor Museum near Karnak Temple. This museum holds artifacts unearthed across Luxor and the surrounding area: pieces the Egyptian government assembled to show what archaeologists have found in the region. You move through the galleries at your own pace with your guide explaining what you're looking at.

From there you head to the Mummification Museum, a newer addition to Luxor's museum scene built specifically to walk you through how ancient Egyptians mummified their dead. You see the actual tools they used (the implements for removing organs, the substances they applied to preserve skin and bone) alongside coffins, wrapped mummies, and other objects from mortuary practices. The museum is designed so the process unfolds in sequence, making it clear why each step mattered and what came next.

Transport between your hotel and both museums is included in an air-conditioned vehicle with a qualified driver. You get a bottle of mineral water for the day. If you book the option with a tour leader, your guide speaks English, Spanish, Italian, French or another language and stays with you through both museums.
