You get picked up in Baños, driven to Niton Mountain near Pelileo, and strapped in with a certified pilot for a tandem flight over the Andes with views of Tungurahua volcano. The pilot handles the flying; you handle the experience. Equipment and instruction are included. You're back in Baños by 6pm, or if weather cancels the flight, you pay transport only and get your flight fee refunded.
A certified pilot clips you in, checks the equipment one more time, and then you're both moving toward the edge of Niton Mountain. The 30-minute drive from Baños gets you there by mid-morning, and after a safety briefing and a walk-through of what's about to happen, you're standing at the launch point near Pelileo with the Ecuadorian landscape spreading out below. No experience needed — the pilot handles the flying, you handle the breathing and the looking around.
The actual flight is the part that stays with you. Once you're airborne, Tungurahua volcano comes into view, and the Andes open up in a way you don't get from the ground. The wind holds you up, the harness holds you in, and for however long the conditions allow, you're seeing Ecuador from above. The pilot talks you through it, points things out, lets you take photos if you've got your phone or camera ready. It's not a long flight — conditions matter, and the mountain doesn't always cooperate — but it's the kind of thing that changes how you think about what's possible in a day.
Weather is the one thing you can't control. If the conditions aren't right on the morning of your tour, the flight gets cancelled and you pay only for the transport back to Baños, which costs extra. If you do fly, you're back in town by 6pm. The equipment gets checked regularly, the pilots are certified, and safety isn't something they talk around — it's the whole foundation of how this works. Bring warm layers, comfortable shoes, water, and something to document it with.
Your tour includes paragliding equipment, a certified pilot who handles the flight, a safety briefing and instruction before takeoff, and round-trip transportation from Baños to Niton Mountain near Pelileo. You'll return to Baños around 6pm on the day of your flight.
