The Experience
The boat leaves Sosua Beach at 9:00 am (or 8:00 am from Puerto Plata, 8:40 am from Cabarete if that's where you're staying). A 75-foot catamaran and crew are waiting. The morning unfolds at two different reef sites where you'll snorkel or swim in the Dominican underwater world—snorkel gear and a vest come with you both times. Between stops the crew hauls up the main sail and you move along the coastline under canvas.
Lunch is served on board, and the open bar runs the whole day. After the second snorkel stop, the boat heads to Ocean World Marina outside Puerto Plata, where a taxi brings you back to your hotel. The whole day runs six to seven hours from start to finish.
