The experience

The day starts early from Bayahibe and Bávaro, heading toward the Miches area through small towns before reaching La Cañita, where a boat carries you across to Samaná. Once there, a safari-style truck takes you up into the mountains to meet the horses. The ride down to El Limón Waterfall is the centerpiece: one of the highest waterfalls in the Caribbean, with a natural pool where you can swim or simply stand under the spray. After the descent, you ride back up and return by truck to the dock.

Lunch is a typical buffet served at the dock, giving you time to rest before heading out to Cayo Levantado, the island stop where the water is clear enough to see straight through. The boat ride back to La Cañita closes the day, and you return to Bayahibe by late afternoon. A bilingual guide (available in English, Spanish, Italian, French or another language) stays with the group throughout, handling logistics and explaining what you're seeing along the way.

The full day runs about eight hours from pickup to drop-off. Breakfast and beverages are included alongside lunch, so you're fed for the whole stretch. Bring swimwear, a towel and sun protection. The waterfall pool and Cayo Levantado both reward time in the water.
