Shopping Tour Punta Cana: Rum, Cigars, Larimar & Chocolate
Taste your way through Dominican crafts and culture without planning the stops
A shopping tour in Punta Cana that moves you through a Tobacco Museum with cigar tasting, rum and mamajuana tastings, a Chocolate factory, Dominican organic coffee, and larimar jewelry exhibits, all inside one climate-controlled space with a guide who speaks English, Spanish, French and three other languages. The tour runs one to four hours depending on how long you want to browse, and two-way transport is included.
Step-by-step itinerary
Dominican culture and shopping tour
- Visit Tobacco Museum and cigar tasting
- Taste rum and mamajuana
- Explore chocolate factory and options
- Taste Dominican organic coffee
- View paintings and pottery
- Learn about Larimar stone history
- Shop Caribbean Organic Cosmetic Store
- Visit Mini Market and outlet store
- Browse small pharmacy
The Experience
The tour starts with the Tobacco Museum and a cigar tasting, then moves into rum and mamajuana tastings before reaching the Chocolate factory. Between each stop you walk past a coffee tasting station featuring Dominican organic varieties, a larimar and jewelry gallery that explains the history of the stone, and a Caribbean Organic Cosmetic Store. The route also includes a clothing shop, swimwear section, mini market, outlet store and small pharmacy, so if something catches your eye during the cultural part, it is there to buy.
An air-conditioned vehicle picks you up and brings you back, and a guide fluent in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Ukrainian and Russian walks the tour with you. The pace is yours: the operator builds the itinerary to fit anywhere from one hour to four hours, so you can move quickly through the exhibits or spend time tasting and shopping at each station. All areas are wheelchair accessible, and the space suits any fitness level.
This is not a typical gift shop with a tour attached — the Chocolate factory, Tobacco Museum and coffee selection are working demonstrations of Dominican production, and the larimar gallery teaches you what you are looking at before you decide to buy. The paintings and pottery on display show Dominican artists alongside the products, so the shopping happens inside a frame of local culture rather than separate from it.
