The Experience

Mundo Auténtico bundles five separate production and retail spaces under one roof: the Don Lucas cigar factory, a chocolate museum, a coffee museum, a rum bar, and galleries for amber and larimar jewelry. You start at the tobacco museum to see the cigar-making process—artisans hand-roll 14 different sizes in 5 strengths, from mild to full-body—and sample any variety produced on-site. From there you move through the coffee section, where Dominican organic beans recognized internationally are on display and available to taste; the chocolate station featuring organic Dominican cocoa; and the rum gallery, where rum tasting happens in a lounge setting. A professional guide in English, Spanish, French or German walks you through each section and explains what you're seeing.

The tour also includes stops at a jewelry section (amber and larimar, with origin guarantees), a pottery and clay crafts exhibition called El Alfarero, and a painters' gallery where you can try your hand at art. A large souvenir section rounds out the space with magnets, cups, maps, dominoes and other small gifts. Hotel pickup and drop-off are included, so the morning or afternoon slot fits around other plans without transport logistics.
