The Experience

Somewhere between the thump of reggaeton and the slap of waves against the hull, I realized I’d forgotten to worry about anything. The boat had just left Bavaro Beach — that first salty breeze hit my face and I could smell sunscreen and pineapple from someone’s drink. Our crew grinned as we settled in, already mixing up cocktails (I asked for something “not too sweet” and got a glass that tasted like summer). I didn’t expect the water to be so clear when we stopped for snorkeling.
