The experience

The first thing I noticed stepping onto the Sherlock 39 was the way the morning air mixed salt and diesel, not unpleasant, just honest. Our captain, Rafael, gave a quick nod. He’s not much for small talk but knows these waters like he knows his own hands. We’d barely left the marina when his mate, Luis, handed me a cold beer. I took it mostly to steady my nerves. The Atlantic out here is louder than I expected: waves thumping against the hull, lines humming as we set up for our Punta Cana private fishing charter.
