ATV Tour from Puerto Plata Cruise Ports: Jungle Trails & Beach
Ride into remote jungle and splash through mountain streams on your own ATV
An ATV adventure from Puerto Plata's Amber Cove or Taino Bay cruise terminals that takes you off the main trails into tropical forest, across jungle streams and down to a beach swim—all within 3 hours so you're back at the ship on time. The tour includes round-trip transport from the port, a guide, helmet, goggles and water bottles. Drivers must be at least 16; passengers can be as young as 6.
Step-by-step itinerary
ATV adventure through jungle and beach
- Depart from Amber Cove or Taino Bay
- Drive through palm tree forests
- Splash through jungle streams
- Explore fresh mountain river
- Swim at remote beach for 15 minutes
- Return to base and transport back
The Experience
You get picked up at either Amber Cove or Taino Bay and driven to the ATV base, where you'll ride your own machine through palm forests and across streams that most cruise passengers never see. The guide leads you into the jungle to a mountain river—you'll splash through it, not just look at it—and the route ends at a beach where you swim for about 15 minutes before heading back. The whole outing runs a maximum of 3 hours, which is the point: you leave the port, get a real ride, and return in time for the ship's departure.
Helmets, goggles and water bottles come with the ATV. You'll want to bring a handkerchief or bandana for dust and mud, sunscreen and a towel. The ride is shared—groups run up to 30 riders plus companions—so you're not alone out there, but you're driving your own ATV the whole time. If someone in your party can't ride, they can come along as a passenger for an extra $15.
Transport is either an air-conditioned van or a Jeep, depending on the day. The guide speaks English and Spanish, so the commentary reaches both. Because the tour is built around cruise schedules, timing is locked in: you won't get stranded waiting for stragglers or miss your ship because the ride ran long.
