- Stop at Jacko Falls and explore plants
- Visit Spanny Twin Falls
- Fruit tasting at water bar
- Tea session and dip in mineral pools
The experience
If you have a free afternoon or are new to Dominica's plant life, this tour builds the day around learning what grows here and what locals use it for. You travel by private vehicle from the south toward the center of the island, stopping first at Jako Falls to spot medicinal plants in their natural setting, then at Spanny Twin Falls for more gathering. Along the way, a complimentary fruit stop lets you sample tropical fruits and roasted coconut at a roadside water bar near Trafalgar Falls.
The core of the tour is the tea session at Ti Kwen Glo Cho, a garden with naturally heated mineral pools and cold showers where you'll use the herbs you've collected to brew tea. You can swim in the warm pools before or after the tea: lunch is available separately if you want it. The guide, fluent in English or Spanish, walks you through identifying the plants and their uses in medicine, cooking and traditional bush rums as you move through each stop.
The full day runs six hours from pickup to drop-off. Your guide handles the route and the stops. You bring curiosity about plants and a willingness to wade through forest areas to spot them. Infants and small children can come along, though the terrain and physical demands mean moderate fitness helps.
