The experience

The guide meets you at your hotel or another central location and walks you through Prague's major sights without a fixed schedule. You'll see the Prague Astronomical Clock in Old Town Square, where crowds gather on the hour to watch the 15th-century mechanism; walk across Charles Bridge, which carries 30 Baroque statues and connects Old Town to the Lesser Quarter; and climb toward Prague Castle, the largest castle complex in the world, founded in 870 and still the seat of the Czech president. The route also takes in the Jewish Quarter, where the Pinkas Synagogue's walls are inscribed with the names of Jews who perished in the Second World War, and the Old New Synagogue, Europe's oldest serving synagogue, completed in 1270.

Because this is a private tour, you decide how long to spend at each stop. If you want to sit down for lunch in the Lesser Quarter, the guide adjusts. If the John Lennon Wall (a graffitied tribute that started during the Communist era when Western music was banned), holds your attention, there's no clock running. The guide provides tips for the rest of your stay in Prague and can point out hidden gems and good photo angles as you go. If you're in Prague for more than one day, the operator also offers separate left-riverbank and right-riverbank tours so you can split the sights across visits.

You'll see it during the Old Town portion of the tour.
