Three different routes, each one a full day away from the crowds

Choose from three day trip routes departing Český Krumlov with private minivan transport, hotel pickup and drop-off, and printed guides to each stop. Day trip No. 1 covers Dívčí Kámen, Holašovice, České Budějovice and Hluboká nad Vltavou. No. 2 swaps Kleť mountain for the castle ruins. No. 3 heads east to Vítkův Hrádek, Vyšší Brod and Rožmberk nad Vltavou. Each route gives you free time at every location (from 30 minutes in the town centre to 2 hours at the ruins), so you set the pace. Entrance fees and lunch are separate. The experience

The three routes are built around different corners of South Bohemia, so you pick based on what draws you. Day trip No. 1 and No. 2 both pass through Holašovice, a UNESCO-listed village famous for its rustic baroque farmhouses, and České Budějovice, the regional capital where you can either tour the original Budweiser brewery or visit the 3D exposition. The difference is the first stop: No. 1 starts at Dívčí Kámen, a medieval castle ruin with an optional 3km walk past Celtic settlement remnants, while No. 2 begins at Kleť, the highest peak in the Blanský forest, where you can hike up or take a chairlift to a stone watchtower and get views across the region. Both routes end at Hluboká nad Vltavou, a small town built around one of the Czech Republic's most visited castles. Day trip No. 3 takes a different path entirely: east toward Vítkův Hrádek, a medieval fortress ruin with an optional climb up the watchtower, then on to Vyšší Brod, home to a gothic monastery, and Rožmberk nad Vltavou, a riverside castle perched above the Vltava.

The minivan picks you up from your hotel in Český Krumlov or nearby and returns you at the end of the day. You get printed maps and descriptions of every stop so you know what you're looking at, and the driver is English-speaking. At each location you have free time to explore on your own: anywhere from 30 minutes in České Budějovice's historic centre to 2 hours at Dívčí Kámen or Hluboká castle. The vehicle is air-conditioned and the operator includes all road tolls and taxes in the price. Lunch and entrance fees to castles or the brewery are your own choice, as are tips for the driver.

The itinerary is designed to fit a full day without rushing, but the free time at each stop means you're not locked into a schedule. If you want to skip a location or spend longer somewhere, you can negotiate that with the driver. Infants can sit on an adult's lap or use a specialized infant seat if you request it in advance.

Top questions

Can I choose which day trip route I want, or are they set?

You pick one of the three routes when you book, No. 1, No. 2 or No. 3, and the itinerary is fixed for that option. Each route visits different towns and landmarks, so choose based on whether you want castle ruins, mountain views, or riverside villages.

What is Holašovice and why do people visit it?

Holašovice is a small village in South Bohemia famous for its rustic baroque farmhouses and traditional architecture. It's a UNESCO world heritage site, and the tour gives you about an hour of free time to walk around and see the buildings up close. The operator recommends having lunch there if you want a typical Czech meal.

Do I have to visit the Budweiser brewery, or can I do something else in České Budějovice?

In České Budějovice you can choose: either tour the original Budweiser brewery or visit a 3D exposition instead. You have about 30 minutes in the historic town centre first to see Přemysl Otakar II Square, the Town Hall and the Black Tower, then you pick which option you want to do.

What is included in the price, and what do I pay for separately?

The tour includes private minivan transport, hotel pickup and drop-off, all road tolls and taxes, printed guides to each stop, and an English-speaking driver. Entrance fees to castles or the brewery, lunch, and gratuities for the driver are separate.

Is there a chairlift at Kleť, or do I have to hike to the top?

Kleť has both options. You can hike up to the stone watchtower at the peak, or take a chairlift if you prefer. The tour gives you about 1.5 hours of free time there, and the operator suggests renting a scooter for the way down if you want to try something different.
