The experience
You board the Aerosa, a traditional wooden boat, and head first toward Famagusta to view Varoshia, the abandoned town across the water. The crew shares the history of the place as you get as close as the restrictions allow, then you slip into the water for a swim. From there the boat follows the coastline east, stopping at Konnos Bay and the Blue Lagoon (both known for water so clear you can see the seabed), and you swim again while the crew brings out fresh seasonal fruit and cold drinks.
As the light begins to shift, the boat heads back toward Protaras and pulls into Fig Tree Bay, where you move to the deck for a traditional Cypriot buffet. Local wines and zivania (a strong spirit) are available for those 18 and over. The meal coincides with a fireworks display that lights the water and the cliffs, and on the return journey you get homemade Cyprus dessert and time to watch the night coastline slide past. The whole outing runs 4 hours, which means a free morning or early evening before or after.
The boat passes Agioi Anargyroi Church perched on the cliff and the sea caves of Protaras, though these are viewed from the water without stopping. Snorkeling equipment is on board if you want to use it at the swimming stops. WiFi, restrooms and air conditioning are all included.

If you want to see Varoshia and the coastline but don't want to commit to a full-day excursion, this timing fits the gap.
