The experience
The minibus picks you up and heads straight into Otrobanda, where the first stop is Netto Bar: Curaçao's oldest bar and home of Rum Berde, the island's famous bright green rum. You'll taste it there, then walk through the neighborhood's colorful streets past Kura Hulanda to Riffort Village. The fort sits on a rise with old cannons still in place and views that stretch across the harbor to the Pontoon Bridge and Punda beyond. Timing puts you there as the light starts to fade, so the panorama works for photos.
After a snack break (bring cash if you want drinks), the group walks over the illuminated Queen Emma Bridge into Punda. The streets are lively by then. You'll wander past Wilhelmina Square and stop at the "Dushi" and "Curaçao" signs that travelers use for pictures. The night wraps with a fireworks show over the water, then a smooth ride back to your hotel. The guide speaks English or Spanish, and children from age 4 are welcome. Infants sit on an adult's lap.
