The Experience
The tour starts in Otrobanda, where you'll learn how the forts and walls once protected St. Anna Bay from pirates, then walk through painted murals and colorful streets past the Kura Hulanda museum. From there you cross the Queen Emma Bridge—the famous floating bridge—and stop at Amsterdam Fort and the Handelskade buildings to hear its history, with a break for refreshments along the way.
In Punda, the guide shows you Gómez Plein Square with its musical wall clock, the Dushi and Curaçao sign at Wilhelminaplein Square, and the Mikvé Israel Emanuel Synagogue. You'll walk through the local fruits, souvenir, spices, and fish markets while learning about the old town's architecture and UNESCO monuments. The route covers roughly two to three hours of walking on city streets and bridges.
The tour ends at the AnnaBay Club Rum Distillery, where you can sample and buy one of the island's famous rums. Bottled water and a souvenir are included; the guide speaks English throughout. Entrance fees to museums or the synagogue are separate, as is any food beyond the rum tasting.
