The experience

The boat leaves for the natural bays between Punat and Stara Baška, passing Fox Bay, Golden Bay, Long Bay, Drenova and Oprna along the western coast of Krk Island. You'll see the golden cliffs that give Golden Bay its name (towering pebble formations that glow under the Mediterranean sun), and several smaller bays tucked between them. The boat itself is a category 2 vessel with a toilet, refrigerator, cooling box and fresh water onboard.

The ride out takes about two hours. Once the boat anchors, you have at least an hour and a half to swim and snorkel across two or more bays, with snorkelling equipment provided. The group stays small, a maximum of ten passengers, so you're not jostling for space in the water or waiting for others to finish.

An English or German-speaking guide is onboard throughout. The trip suits all fitness levels, and infants can ride along (they'll need to sit on an adult's lap). Public transportation options are available near the departure point.
