The experience
The boat leaves Rovinj and sails past the old city's church of Sveta Eufemija, the Grisia street of small shops, and the Batana boats that locals have built here for centuries. Your guide points out the stairs between 250-year-old houses where residents once jumped into the sea, and explains how the peninsula was an island until 200 years ago. You'll see filming locations from the Hitman and Vikings movies, then sail into Lim Bay to watch the landscape open up. The bar stays open throughout, pouring wine, rakija, water and soft drinks without charge.
At Vrsar, the boat reaches the halfway point of Lim Bay where the water deepens and the cliffs rise. If dolphins appear on the return to Rovinj, the captain slows down so you can photograph them. Swimming in the old town is available if you want to jump in, and Pirate Cave is an optional stop you can add for a small fee. The crew is trained to keep the boat comfortable and safe, and you're free to move around, ask questions or simply sit in the shade.
