The experience
You arrive in Zagreb with a free day and no interest in following a guide's itinerary through one of Europe's most photographed parks. This private tour solves that: a driver picks you up at your accommodation and handles the two-hour drive to Plitvice Lakes in an air-conditioned vehicle, leaving you free to rest or plan which trails matter most. On the way, you stop in Rastoke, a 17th-century watermill village where the Slunjčica and Korana rivers meet in a network of small waterfalls and rapids: locals call it Little Plitvice, and it's the kind of place where an hour disappears into a single coffee and a camera roll.
Once at Plitvice Lakes National Park, you have 4–6 hours to move through the park however you want. The park spreads across 300 square kilometers with 16 interconnected lakes and over 90 waterfalls dropping through a forested karst landscape. There's no fixed route, no guide narrating facts, no group waiting at a boardwalk while you photograph the travertine formations that make these lakes rare. You walk where the light is best, linger where the view holds you, and skip the crowded sections entirely. The driver stays available for questions before you head out, then you're on your own with the trails.
The return journey gives you time to decompress after hours of walking and looking. You're back in Zagreb by evening, having spent the day in nature at a pace that felt like your own choice, not a schedule printed on a ticket.

Top questions
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
How much time do I actually get to walk around Plitvice Lakes?
You have 4–6 hours in the park itself, after the stop in Rastoke and the drive from Zagreb. That span lets you cover the main boardwalks and lake views without rushing, or explore deeper into the forest trails if you prefer solitude over the popular spots.
What is Rastoke village, and how long do we stop there?
Rastoke is a preserved watermill village from the 17th century where two rivers meet and create a series of small waterfalls and rapids. It sits near Slunj on the way to Plitvice, and you stop there for a coffee break in the morning: long enough to walk around, photograph the water and old mills, and feel the place without it eating into your park time.
Do I need to buy the park entrance fee separately, or is it included?
The entrance fee to Plitvice Lakes National Park depends on which option you book at checkout. One includes it, the other does not. Check the pricing details when you select your vehicle type.
Will there be a guide walking with me through the park?
No. This is a self-guided experience: the driver drops you at the park entrance and you explore the trails on your own. The driver is available beforehand to answer questions about which routes work best for your interests, but you walk without a guide narrating the stops.
What's included in the price, and what do I need to pay for separately?
The tour covers private transportation from your Zagreb accommodation, the vehicle itself, pickup and drop-off, and the stop in Rastoke. Food and beverages are not included, so bring snacks or plan to buy coffee in Rastoke. The park entrance fee is included in one option and not in the other. You'll choose at checkout.
