Paddle islands and reefs, spot wildlife above and below the water

Kayak and snorkel tour in Manuel Antonio where you paddle roughly 2½ hours roundtrip past islands, inlets and nesting grounds, then stop at Bisanz beach to snorkel for 30 minutes. Hotel pickup and drop-off, professional guide in English or Spanish, kayaks for one or two paddlers, snorkeling equipment, bottled water and lunch are included. Children must be at least 8 years old to paddle; a minimum of two people per booking is required.

The Experience

What does a 4-hour morning or afternoon look like when you're paddling instead of walking? The tour starts with hotel pickup and a short ride to the launch point. From there, you're on the water for roughly 2½ hours roundtrip, moving at a pace that lets you watch pelicans, flying fish and other seabirds working the coastline and the islands you pass. The kayaks come in single and double versions, so you can paddle solo or share one with a partner—either way, no experience is needed. The water stays calm enough that this feels easier than river kayaking, even if you've never held a paddle before.

Halfway through, you pull into Bisanz beach, a secluded bay where the tour stops for 30 minutes. This is where the snorkeling happens. Visibility shifts with the season, but parrotfish, starfish and angelfish are common sightings; sea turtles show up often enough that spotting one is a real possibility, not a promise. You'll have snorkeling gear ready and time to rest between the paddle and the water. A light lunch and bottled water come with the tour, so you're not managing hunger or thirst on top of the activity.

The return paddle takes you back to the launch point, where transportation is arranged to get you back to your hotel. The whole day runs about 4 hours from pickup to drop-off, which leaves the rest of your afternoon or morning free depending on when you book.
