The Experience

The first thing I noticed was how the jungle light kept shifting—one second you’re in this cool green shade, then suddenly everything goes gold and you can hear birds arguing overhead. Our guide, Diego, handed out harnesses and made sure everyone actually understood the safety stuff (he caught me zoning out, not gonna lie). The air smelled kind of sharp and earthy, like wet leaves and something sweet I couldn’t name. There was a nervous energy in our little group—someone kept fiddling with their gloves.

We started on a short practice cable—honestly, my hands were sweating before I even left the platform. Diego gave us a thumbs-up and said “pura vida” like he meant it. Then came the real deal: six cables strung across what felt like endless layers of trees and tangled vines. You get these flashes of color—blue morpho butterflies or maybe just someone’s helmet catching the sun—and then wind in your face as you zip above everything.
