The experience
The day splits into two parts. In the morning, you choose between two activities: walk the trails inside Arenal Volcano National Park to see the old lava flow and spot wildlife, or hike to La Fortuna Waterfall and climb around 500 steps to reach it. Either way, you're moving through one of Costa Rica's most active volcanic landscapes. The guide leads the way and points out what you're seeing.
After lunch, the tour moves to Baldi Hot Springs Resort and Spa in La Fortuna. The resort has 25 thermal pools fed by natural hot springs, each one a different temperature. The mineral water comes straight from the volcano's heat, and the pools sit inside the rainforest: birds overhead, waterfalls nearby, no chlorine. You spend the afternoon soaking and moving between pools at your own pace.
The whole day runs 12 hours from pickup at your hotel to drop-off. Transport is air-conditioned, and lunch is included. A professional guide travels with the group and speaks English or Spanish.
