The experience

Salento sits in Colombia's Coffee Triangle, and a visit here means stepping onto a working farm instead of just reading about coffee. You'll be picked up from your hotel and driven to Luger, a farm with a hundred years of history, where a coffee expert meets you and walks the grounds. The farm spreads across hectares of plantations with views that settle you into the pace of the place.

The tour is built around doing the work, not watching it. You plant a coffee seed in the seedlings beds, then move to the bushes and pick coffee cherries by hand. After that, you see the roasting and sometimes the grinding: the final steps that turn the raw fruit into the coffee you'll taste at the end. The guide explains what happens at each stage and why it matters, so you understand the flavor in your cup when you get there.

The whole experience takes 4 to 5 hours. You'll need comfortable shoes and water. The farm operates rain or shine, so dress for the weather and bring sunscreen. Your guide will call the day before to confirm details or answer any questions. Hotel drop-off is included at the end.
