Rafting, bodyrafting, a marble cave and 20 minutes through the jungle in one morning

Private rafting activity in Rio Claro's canyon, Colombia, combining four water and land pursuits over four hours: you pilot a raft downriver, swim through a natural pool beneath a geological vault, bodyraft the current, explore the marble cavern El Condor with its stalactites and resident Guácharos birds, then hike out through native forest. The canyon sits inside a nature reserve known for bird and butterfly diversity. Your guide speaks English or Spanish, and lunch is included.

The experience

The day opens with a three-hour boat journey down the Rio Claro between the bridge and La Peña sector. Along the way you pass The Vault, a rock formation that spans the river and creates a natural pool where you can swim, and a waterfall that drops directly into the water. After the boat ride, you switch to bodyrafting (throwing yourself into the river and letting the current carry you downstream), before the group disembarks at La Peña.

From there, a 20-minute walk through the jungle connects you to El Condor, the marble cavern at the heart of the reserve. Inside, you walk among stalactites and stalagmites carved over millions of years by water, and spot the Guácharos birds that nest in the cave. The cavern tour takes about 40 minutes. When you leave, a final walk brings you to the highway where the activity ends.

An air-conditioned vehicle picks you up and returns you after the hike. Your guide handles the route in English or Spanish. Lunch, all safety gear (vest, helmet, rowing equipment) and a risk policy are included. Children from age seven are welcome, though the activity is not suitable for travelers with spinal injuries, pregnancy, or cardiovascular conditions that limit physical exertion.
