An evening salsa class and social dance party at El Social Tienda Mixta in Medellín's El Poblado neighborhood, open to all levels with no prior experience needed. After the class, the social dancing gets going and a live salsa orchestra starts playing. A welcome cocktail, alcoholic or non-alcoholic, is included.

The experience

The evening starts with a welcome cocktail at El Social Tienda Mixta, a venue in El Poblado where the salsa atmosphere is built into the walls. The basic salsa class begins right after, teaching you the foundational steps and pace you need to move through a dance floor without overthinking it. Solo travelers, couples and groups of friends are all welcome: no partner and no experience required.

Later in the evening a live salsa orchestra takes over the social dancing. This is when the room shifts from learning to doing: you're dancing with locals and other travelers, trying out what you just learned while a full band plays. The salsero atmosphere of Medellín is not performed for you. It's the real crowd of locals and travelers, and you're in it.

The venue is wheelchair accessible, and the space works for all fitness levels. The class is designed for people who have never danced salsa before, so the pace assumes you're building from zero.
