You’ll walk among Botero’s famous sculptures in Medellin’s lively plaza, ride the Metrocable high above city rooftops to Arvi Park, explore Comuna 13’s vivid murals and outdoor escalators with your local guide, and wander lush gardens where the air smells like rain—even on sunny days. Hotel pickup and drop-off are included for an easy start and finish.
I nearly tripped over a pigeon at Botero Plaza—right in front of the chubby bronze cat. Our guide, Camilo, just grinned and said it happens to everyone. The plaza was busy but not overwhelming; kids weaving between those 23 sculptures, street vendors selling mango slices with salt (I tried one—tangy, weirdly addictive). I didn’t expect to feel so small standing next to Botero’s giant figures. Camilo told stories about the artist that made me look twice at every curve.
The Metrocable was next. I’d seen photos but being inside it is something else—the city just drops away beneath you. We floated up toward Arvi Park, roofs turning into green hills. There was this moment when the doors slid open at a station and all you could hear was birds and distant traffic, like Medellin had two different heartbeats. Camilo pointed out neighborhoods below; he grew up nearby and waved at someone on a balcony (they actually waved back).
Comuna 13 felt alive—music echoing from windows, murals everywhere. I lost count of the colors. The escalators are practical but also kind of surreal; riding them past street art while teenagers practiced dance moves nearby. Someone handed me an arepa straight off a grill (I burned my fingers a little), but it was worth it for that buttery smell. No lunch included on this tour so bring snacks or just do what we did—graze your way through.
We ended at the Botanical Garden where it smelled like rain even though the sun was out—one of those Medellin things, I guess. I sat under a tree for a minute longer than planned because leaving felt rushed somehow. It’s funny how a full day tour can leave you wanting more quiet moments like that.
Your day includes hotel pickup and drop-off anywhere in Medellin, all local taxes covered, private transport with your driver-guide (who might even share childhood stories), plus plenty of time exploring each stop—from Botero Plaza to Comuna 13 murals to the green calm of Arvi Park and the Botanical Garden before heading back home at sunset.
