The experience
The tour starts with pickup from Salento, Filandia, Pereira or Armenia. You choose the town that fits your base. From there, you head into Cocora Valley, part of the Coffee Triangle and a UNESCO-designated Coffee Cultural Landscape. The valley sits at the edge of Los Nevados National Natural Park, and the hike takes you through terrain where wax palms tower overhead and mist rolls through the ridges. Your guide explains why these palms matter ecologically and culturally, and points out the views that make the valley one of Colombia's most photographed landscapes.
After the valley, you move to the coffee farm, where a coffee expert walks you through each stage of production. You'll see the plantation itself, then move through the areas where cherries are picked, beans are washed, and coffee is roasted and ground. The hands-on part comes next: you pick coffee cherries from the plants and plant seedlings in the soil, so you understand the labor that goes into every bag. The tour finishes with a tasting of high-quality Colombian coffee, brewed and served on the farm.
The full day runs nine hours including pickup and drop-off. The guide will call you the day before to answer questions and make sure you have what you need: comfortable shoes, water, sunscreen and a camera are essentials, since weather can shift quickly and the light changes fast in the mountains. The tour operates in all conditions, so dress in layers.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English and Spanish.
What is the Cocora Valley and why is it worth the hike?
Cocora Valley is a UNESCO-designated Coffee Cultural Landscape in the Colombian Coffee Triangle, sitting at the entrance to Los Nevados National Natural Park. The valley is known for the world's tallest wax palms and dramatic mountain views. The hike takes you through this terrain with a guide who explains the environmental and cultural significance of the palms and the landscape itself.
Will I actually work on the coffee farm, or just watch?
You do hands-on work: you pick coffee cherries directly from the plants and plant coffee seedlings in the soil. The farm expert walks you through the full production process (from plantation to seed extraction, washing, roasting and grinding), so you see and participate in the stages that turn a cherry into the coffee you drink.
Where does the tour pick me up, and what time does it start?
Pickup happens in one of four towns: Salento, Filandia, Pereira or Armenia. You choose which one when you book. The guide will contact you the day before to confirm the exact pickup time and answer any questions about what to bring or what to expect.
Is lunch included in the tour?
Lunch is not part of this tour. The day includes a high-quality Colombian coffee tasting at the farm, but you'll want to plan a meal separately or bring snacks for the day.
What happens if the weather is bad?
The tour operates in all weather conditions. Mist and wind are common in the valley and can actually make the landscapes more dramatic. Dress in layers and bring appropriate rain gear if needed. The guide will advise you on what to wear when they call the day before.
