The experience

Germán and Karen teach salsa, bachata, merengue and vallenato in a private studio in Bogotá where you won't be watched by strangers while you learn. The 90-minute class starts from scratch if you've never danced before, or it shifts to match your level if you have experience: the instructors adjust on the spot. If you're booking alone, they pair you with a compatible partner instructor so you practice the lead and follow instead of drilling steps by yourself.

The class happens in their private space, which means you get the room to make mistakes without an audience. They've spent years teaching foreigners the footwork and rhythm of Colombian dance, and they know how to get someone moving faster than they'd expect. Water is on hand throughout, and the pace is built around learning, not performance.

After class, you can ask them to take you to the salsa clubs where locals actually dance.
