The experience

The evening starts at your hotel with pickup by private car and driver. You'll travel to a local restaurant selected for its Peking duck, where the meal itself becomes the first part of the experience: the guide walks you through assembling the dish. Crispy sliced duck, scallion, cucumber, and sweet bean sauce layered onto a Chinese pancake, then rolled and eaten. The restaurant also offers Shanghai soup dumplings and other dishes tailored to dietary requests, so the table is built around what you want to eat.

After dinner, the guide leads a walk through Yu Garden Bazaar when the old town is fully lit at night. The buildings glow in twinkling gold, and you cross the Nine Zigzag bridge. A landmark the guide explains as you go, sharing local history and custom. This is not a rushed photo stop. It's a lit-up neighborhood you move through on foot with someone who knows what the details mean.

The final stop is the Bund, where you stroll the riverside to see the old colonial buildings on one bank and the modern skyline (Jinmao Tower, Oriental Pearl TV Tower, Shanghai World Financial Center, Shanghai Tower) lit up across the Huangpu River on the other. If you've already seen the Bund lights on a previous visit, the guide can substitute the French Concession instead. You're then dropped back at your hotel or another downtown location of your choice.

Is this one for you?Book the dinner-only option if you want the meal and night walk without the extra time. Choose the dinner and VIP cruise option if you'd like to add a river cruise of the lit skyline to the itinerary. Both include the guide, the restaurant, and the walking tour.
