The experience
The Six Harmonies Pagoda is the centerpiece: a representative ancient pavilion-style tower and one of three renowned pagodas in Hangzhou. You'll spend about an hour there, climbing through its 13 storeys and seeing the iron bells hung at every corner of the eaves. It sits among the other two famous pagodas, Baochu and Leifeng, which frame the West Lake from different angles.
After the pagoda, you walk Hefang Street, also called the Snack Street for the food it concentrates on: regional cuisine from across China alongside local flavors. This is where you eat dinner and browse, moving at your own pace through the stalls and shops. The street is built for people who want to taste their way through a place rather than just pass through it.
The Qiantang River cruise happens in the evening, and your seat is on the third floor with an outside view. The lights along the bank reflect on the water, and you spend the rest of the night there, relaxed, watching the city glow. When the cruise ends, your guide drives you back to your hotel in Hangzhou.
