The Experience

The Lama Temple sits five minutes' walk from Yonghegong subway station on line 5. You'll get your QR code tickets by email before the day starts, scan them at the gate, and move straight through without joining the queue. The temple's layout follows the same architectural lineage as the Brahma Gyalan — three lingering pagodas and five main halls arranged along a central axis, each one opening onto the next. It's the kind of place where you set your own pace, stop as long as you want in front of a particular shrine, and leave when you're ready.

After you finish at the Lama Temple, it's a three-minute walk to the Beijing Confucius Temple. Same process: scan your second QR code at the entrance and go in. The layout here is traditional — buildings symmetrical on either side of a central axis, three courtyards running through the whole complex. There's no guide talking at you, no group moving faster or slower than you'd like, no schedule to keep. You're just moving through the space on your own terms, reading what you want to read, sitting where you want to sit.

The local supplier sends both QR codes to your email, phone, and WhatsApp after you book, so you've got them backed up three ways. Bring your passport — you'll need the name, number, and expiry date at booking time, and the actual document on the day you visit. Dress is smart casual. Public transport gets you there and back, and the whole setup assumes you know how to navigate Beijing's subway system or are comfortable figuring it out.
