The Experience

You arrive at Jingshan Park on a Beijing morning when the light is still soft, and there's already a line forming at the ticket window. The park itself is quiet enough that you can actually hear the city around you—traffic on the street below, someone's bicycle bell, the sound of your own footsteps on the path.
