The Bell Tower and Drum Tower are a short walk away—both Ming Dynasty brick structures that once kept time for the whole city. The Drum Tower is the one with the performances: hourly shows run from 9:30 AM through late afternoon, with 25 drums inside representing the 24 solar terms. If you time it right, you catch one without having to negotiate entry first.

Beihai Park is the jewel—one of China's best-preserved imperial gardens, with a White Dagoba, a lake, and classical pavilions that feel like you've stepped into a painting. The combined ticket covers the inner gardens like Yong'an Temple and Tuancheng, but note that those close at 6:00 PM in peak season and 5:00 PM in winter, with last entry thirty minutes earlier. The park itself stays open later (until 9:00 PM April through October, 8:00 PM November through March), so you can walk the grounds after the temples close. Beihai is also closed Mondays unless it's a public holiday, so check your dates before you book.
