You’ll wander through Beijing’s Forbidden City with a local guide who knows every shortcut, climb Mutianyu Great Wall (with a wild toboggan ride down), taste real noodles where locals eat, and watch morning Tai Chi at Temple of Heaven. Every day feels packed but never rushed—you’ll leave with memories that stick long after your feet recover.
“You know, I didn’t expect Tiananmen Square to feel so wide open—like you could just float away if you weren’t careful. Our guide Li kept tossing in these tiny stories about the old city that made me laugh (and sometimes squint at the history). We wandered through the Forbidden City for hours—red walls, gold roofs, all those dragon carvings. The air inside felt different, almost thick with old secrets. At one point I touched a stone balustrade and it was cool and smooth from centuries of hands. Lunch was noodles at some spot Li picked—he said locals go there after work. He was right about the chili oil.”
The next morning started early (I’m not a morning person but somehow it worked). Temple of Heaven was already alive—old men playing cards, women doing Tai Chi under cypress trees. The smell of incense hung around us. At the Pearl Market later, I tried bargaining for earrings and totally failed; the vendor grinned and taught me how to say “too expensive” in Mandarin. Li laughed when I tried it out—probably butchered it but hey, she gave me a discount anyway.
Mutianyu Great Wall is about an hour or so from Beijing—I lost track staring out at the fields turning into mountains. We took the cable car up (easier on my knees), and then walked along those ancient stones with barely anyone else around. The wind up there snapped my hair everywhere and I just stood for a minute looking out over all that green. Coming down by toboggan? Way more fun than I thought—I screamed once or twice but nobody seemed to mind.
I still think about that last afternoon at the Summer Palace—the lake shining, families picnicking under willows, everything slowed down after three packed days. My feet were tired but my head felt lighter somehow. If you want Beijing’s big stories and small moments—with someone who actually knows which gate gets you in faster—this private tour is honestly worth it.
Your three days include hotel pickup and drop-off each morning and evening, all entry tickets for Forbidden City, Mutianyu Great Wall (with cable car or chair lift up and toboggan down), Temple of Heaven, Summer Palace and more; plus bottled water every day, lunch at trusted local spots chosen by your guide, and comfortable private transport between sites so you can just focus on soaking up Beijing’s stories without worrying about logistics.
