Day 1: Tianjin Port to Mutianyu Great Wall

The experience

Your guide meets you at the Tianjin cruise terminal exit holding a sign with your name, then drives you straight to Mutianyu Great Wall. The Mutianyu section draws fewer crowds than Badaling and winds through dense woods and seasonal pastures. You have three ways up and down the wall besides walking on foot (cable car, chair lift or toboggan), and lunch happens nearby before you climb. After the wall, you transfer to your Beijing hotel (which you book separately).

Day two starts at 8am with pickup from your hotel. Tian'anmen Square comes first: the largest city-center square in the world, ringed by the Memorial Hall of Chairman Mao, the National Museum of China, the Hall of the People and the Monument to the People's Heroes, all visible from outside. You then enter the Forbidden City, the largest imperial palace in the world, walking the Outer Court, Inner Court and Imperial Garden while your guide explains the history and culture. After lunch, Temple of Heaven is next: the largest imperial place of worship from ancient times, now a park where locals gather for singing, dancing and tai chi.

At the end of day two, you choose where to finish: a centrally located Beijing hotel, Beijing airport or back to Tianjin port. The itinerary is flexible. Your guide can adjust it based on your interests, weather or anything unexpected. Tours running over eight hours per day incur an extra fee.

Do I need to book my own hotel in Beijing, or is it included?

You book your own hotel in Beijing. After day one at the Great Wall, you're transferred to the hotel you've arranged. Day two pickup happens from that same hotel at 8am. Alternatively, you can choose to end the tour at Beijing airport or return to Tianjin port instead.
