The experience
The tour starts at Plaza de la Victoria next to the Santiago Severin Library and Valparaiso Cathedral. A trolleybus takes you to Plaza Aníbal Pinto, one of the city's central gathering points, then you board the Reina Victoria lift: one of the oldest and best-restored elevators in the city. From there, you walk through passages like Dimalow and stop at landmarks including the Breakfast restaurant and the Anglican church before reaching the Atkinson Promenade, where colorful houses and murals dedicated to Neruda line the streets.
The oldest elevator, built in 1883, carries you up to Prat Street and Plaza Sotomayor, where you see the Naval Building, the Victoria Hotel, and the monument to the heroes of Iquique. The tour ends at the Yugoslav Walk after climbing the Peral elevator. All four lifts and the trolleybus ticket are included, so you move through the city without buying separate transport passes or worrying about the steep terrain that makes Valparaiso difficult to navigate on foot alone.
