Step-by-step itinerary
Torres del Paine and Grey Glacier tour
- Travel from Punta Arenas to Torres del Paine
- Visit viewpoints, lakes, and waterfalls
- Sail along Grey Lake
- Observe Grey Glacier from the water
- Visit Milodon Cave Natural Monument (weather permitting)
- Return to Punta Arenas
The experience
The day starts with a drive from Punta Arenas into Torres del Paine National Park in a 15-passenger Sprinter minibus. You'll stop at viewpoints, lakes and waterfalls scattered through the park, each one chosen to show the scale and variety of Patagonian terrain. The guide walks you through what you're seeing (the history of the region, the animals that live here, why the landscape looks the way it does) rather than leaving you to guess.
The centerpiece is the boat crossing of Grey Lake. You'll sail between ice floes drifting out from the glacier, getting close enough to see the scale of it from the water, a perspective you can't get from the shore. The glacier itself sits at the far end of the lake, part of the larger Patagonian Ice Field. Weather permitting, the route also includes a stop at Milodon Cave Natural Monument on the return to Punta Arenas, though this is not guaranteed.
The full day is 16 hours door-to-door. Hotel pickup is included, so you don't arrange your own transport to the starting point. Entry to Torres del Paine National Park itself is optional and added at checkout if you want it. The boat ride on Grey Lake is part of the base tour.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English and Spanish.
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (3 to 12 years); Infant (under 3): free.

It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What exactly is Grey Glacier and why does it matter to see it from the water?
Grey Glacier is part of the Patagonian Ice Field and feeds into Grey Lake. The boat crossing lets you approach the glacier face and see the ice floes it sheds, a view impossible from the shore. The glacier is one of the most visible remnants of Patagonia's ice age landscape.
Is entry to Torres del Paine National Park included in the tour price?
National park entry is optional and added at checkout for CLP 34,000 per person. The tour operates within the park, but entry is a separate choice at booking.
What happens if the weather is bad?
The Milodon Cave Natural Monument visit is weather-dependent and may not happen if conditions don't allow it. The main tour of the park and the Grey Lake boat crossing proceed as scheduled.
Can I bring an infant on this tour?
Yes. Specialized infant seats are available on request. Let the operator know at booking if you need one.
Is this tour physically demanding?
The tour is suitable for all fitness levels. It is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries due to the vehicle travel and boat motion involved.
