The experience
Most travelers visiting Valparaiso piece together a day by booking separate activities: a boat tour here, a lunch spot there, a dune visit somewhere else. This tour bundles five things into one route: you'll drive through Viña del Mar and along the coast toward Zapallar, then board a boat for a round-trip to penguin island (about an hour on the water, where dolphins and sea otters sometimes appear). The boat and the penguin island are the centerpiece. Everything else radiates from that single booking.
After the island, you stop at a paragliding school perched on a hilltop overlooking the Pacific. This is where lunch happens (typical Chilean food, fresh fruit, nuts, pisco sour and homemade dulces for dessert), and where you can watch paragliders launch if the timing works. If you want to try paragliding yourself, the school offers instruction on-site. The fee is separate and not included in the tour price. The view from the table is the point: you eat while looking at the ocean and the coast stretching toward Valparaiso.
The final stop is Concon dunes. You climb barefoot to the top, then sandboard down: no experience needed, and if standing isn't your style, you can slide down on your bottom. Sandboards are provided. The tour ends back in Valparaiso, or you can arrange a different drop-off point in advance. The whole day runs 7 to 9 hours depending on traffic and how long you linger at each stop.
