The experience
The Simpson River and the lakes around Seis Lagunas hold wild trout in water so clear you'll see them move. You'll fish for four hours with a guide who knows which spots are productive right now: the spring creeks where rainbows hold, the deeper pools where browns feed, the lagoons where the light hits the water just right. Whether you wade shallow water or drift in a boat depends on the day and the fish. Your guide reads both and moves you accordingly. The landscape around you doesn't stop: snow-capped peaks, ancient forests, the kind of country that makes you understand why people come back to Patagonia.
You get a fly rod, reel and flies. Everything except waders and boots, which you'll need to bring or arrange separately. The guide teaches you the cast and the drift, how to read the water, what the trout are taking. If you've never fly fished before, the guide scales the day to that. If you've done this for years, he'll take you to harder water. Two anglers per guide means you're not standing around watching someone else fish. The guide also carries a camera, so you'll have photos of the day without stopping to take them yourself.
Around midday you'll eat a gourmet lunch (smoked salmon crostini, pumpkin soup, herb-grilled chicken, quinoa salad with local vegetables, fresh bread) either at the riverside or back at the lodge depending on where you are and how the fishing is running. You'll have water, hot beverages, and snacks throughout. Pickup and drop-off are included if you need them, and the Chilean fishing license comes with the booking.

Top questions
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What kind of trout will I be fishing for on the Simpson River?
Brown and rainbow trout live in the Simpson River and the Seis Lagunas lakes. Both species thrive in Patagonia's cold, clear water, and your guide will show you where each one feeds and how to approach them.
Do I need fly fishing experience to book this?
No. The activity suits beginners to experienced anglers. Your guide will teach you the fundamentals (the cast, the drift, how to read the water), and scale the instruction to where you are starting from.
What's included in the lunch, and where do we eat?
Lunch is a gourmet spread: smoked salmon crostini, homemade pumpkin soup, herb-grilled chicken, fresh quinoa salad with local vegetables, and fresh-baked bread. You'll eat either riverside or at the lodge depending on the day's fishing and capacity.
Will I need to bring my own waders and boots?
Waders and boots are not included, so you'll need to bring your own or arrange them separately before the tour. All other fishing equipment (rod, reel, flies) is provided.
How much walking is involved, and what's the physical demand?
The activity is rated easy to moderate. You'll walk on uneven terrain to reach the water and move between fishing spots, but the pace is set by the guide and the fish. Bring weather-appropriate clothing, sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat.
Does the price include pickup from my hotel?
Pickup and drop-off are included when available. Confirm your location when you book so the guide can arrange it or let you know the meeting point.
