You start at The Pedaler shop, pick up your bike and helmet, and ride out with a guide who knows the neighborhoods and their stories.

The route moves through Fernwood, a trendy neighborhood where the guide explains the area's character as you climb toward Craigdarroch Castle, a Victorian-era Scottish Baronial mansion that sits on a hill overlooking the city. From there you descend into the elegant Rockland neighborhood, then head to Beacon Hill Park, where you'll stop at a totem pole that stands 127 feet tall—the tallest free-standing totem pole in the world when it was raised in 1956. The park's bike paths and open space break up the urban riding. You also visit Chinatown, walk down Fan Tan Alley (the narrowest street in North America), and stop at the Inner Harbour, where Victoria's restaurants, shops and waterfront attractions cluster. Parliament Buildings get a stop at both the front and back so you see the full structure.

The guide is a local who speaks English and carries the history and stories of each stop. You'll need at least a moderate level of fitness to keep pace, and the tour runs in all weather, so dress for the conditions.
