The Experience
You launch from Granville Island in a sit-on-top kayak—easy to manage and designed for comfort. The paddle takes you into False Creek, where the water stays calm and the backdrop shifts as you move: high rises, Science World, BC Place Stadium, and the Olympic Village all come into view without the distance a shore walk would put between you and them. A guide paddles alongside, pointing out the geological story of the inlet and the city's history, and naming the wildlife that shares the water—seals, ducks, kingfishers—as they appear.
Two hours is long enough to move through the whole inlet without rushing, and short enough to fit into a morning or evening without eating the rest of your day. The early morning departure catches the light before the crowds arrive; sunset turns the water into a mirror for the skyline. You bring nothing but yourself; the kayak, paddle and life vest are provided, and your guide handles the navigation and the stories.
Single kayaks work for solo paddlers or pairs who want their own boat; double kayaks fit two people in tandem, with an adult in the back. Minimum age is 10 for the front seat of a double kayak with an adult, or 16 for a single kayak on your own. The tour runs when at least two kayaks are booked, which can come from separate parties, so you may paddle alongside other travelers.
