The experience
Four hours is the standard circuit through Strøm's thermal experience. You move at your own pace between the heated pools, cold plunge, Finnish saunas and quiet rest areas, using the river's coolness as part of the rhythm. The spa's main advantage is its proximity to the water, which lets you step directly from the sauna's heat into the river. The mature trees and the setting in the Laurentian Mountains frame the whole thing, and there's no schedule to follow or guide narrating it.
Everything you need is provided: bathrobe, towel, locker key, slides and a reusable bag for your swimsuit. You also get a transparent water bottle to stay hydrated through the circuit. The spa is a short drive from Montreal, and public transportation options are available nearby if you're coming from the city.

Top questions
What exactly is a Nordic spa circuit, and how does it work?
A Nordic spa circuit moves you between hot and cold experiences. You warm up in the sauna or hot pool, then plunge into cold water, then rest in a relaxation area, and repeat. Strøm's circuit uses the river for the cold-water part, which is the defining feature of this spa.
Do I need to bring my own swimsuit and towel?
Bring a swimsuit, but the spa provides the towel, bathrobe, locker and slides. You also get a reusable bag to store your swimsuit between uses.
Is there a guide, or do I just show up and use the facilities?
You move through the circuit at your own pace with no guide. It's self-directed, so you can spend as much time as you want in each area.
How far is Strøm from Montreal, and can I get there without a car?
Saint-Sauveur is a short drive from Montreal. Public transportation options are available nearby, though the spa itself does not arrange transport.
What's the minimum age to use the spa?
The minimum age is 16 years old.
