The experience

The gallery is built around the work of two taxidermist brothers, Greg and Dean Robertson, who arranged each animal to freeze a moment from its life in the wild rather than pose it formally. You'll move through displays that aim to show playfulness, emotion, or raw beauty: some tell a specific story about the creature, others just leave the detail of how it moves or hunts visible in a way a flat photo cannot. The animals on display are species that live in the Northwest Territories, so you're seeing what actually inhabits the landscape around you.

A guide or one of the artists themselves walks you through the gallery, explaining both the animals and the taxidermy process that goes into each piece. The workshop sits adjacent to the main space, so you can see the craft behind the displays. The whole experience runs about an hour, which fits easily into a morning or afternoon without eating the rest of your day.

Is this one for you?An hour is short enough to fit around other activities in your day, so this works as a focused stop rather than a full-day commitment. If you want to linger over the displays or ask detailed questions about specific animals, you may find the time tight.
