The Experience
Four parallel ziplines run 670 meters across the Niagara River Gorge, and you're strapped into one of them. The harness is snug, the helmet is on, and then you step off the platform. The ground drops away fast. What hits you first isn't the speed — it's the sound. The roar of the Horseshoe Falls gets louder the closer you get, and the mist rises up to meet you. Your eyes stay locked on the Canadian Falls the whole way down because there's nothing else to look at and nowhere else you'd want to look.
The zipline to the Falls works because it doesn't ask you to be brave. The harness does the work. Your hands stay free, which means you can hold a camera or just grip the sides if you need to, but mostly you just ride it. The shuttle brings you back up to the top, so you're not hiking or climbing — you step out, get oriented, and go again if you want to. Over 300,000 people have done this, which sounds like a lot until you realize it means the guides have seen every reaction and know how to talk you through the nerves part without making it worse. Kids as young as seven go through with adults, and people in their seventies have done it too. The weight limit is 275 pounds, and the age minimum is seven.
Falls Landing sits at the base of the Horseshoe Falls, and that's where the zipline deposits you. You get time there to catch your breath, take photos, and actually stand still long enough to feel the spray and hear the water without the adrenaline drowning everything out. The observation deck is part of the experience, not a separate ticket. A waiver is required before you go up, and the whole operation is wheelchair accessible — the platform, the shuttle, the landing area. If you've got spinal issues or you're pregnant, this one's not the right fit, but for most people the hands-free design is what makes it possible.
