Your guide narrates the drive along the Niagara River Parkway, one of Canada's most scenic routes, passing the Dufferin Islands, the International Control Dam, and the Niagara Scow, a steel barge stranded in the rapids since 1918. You'll also see the historic hydroelectric stations that line the river, including the original 1905 power plant that first harnessed the Falls' energy.
At Journey Behind the Falls, you descend 125 feet through tunnels carved into the bedrock to reach observation decks positioned just feet from the Horseshoe Falls: close enough to feel the thunder and mist of the water crashing down. Skip-the-line access means you move straight through without waiting at the ticket counter. From there, the tour takes you to Skylon Tower, where you stand over 500 feet above the ground for panoramic views of the entire Falls and the surrounding region.
The boat ride (May through December) boards you on Niagara City Cruises for an approach to the base of the Horseshoe Falls through the mist, letting you experience the raw power of the water up close. During winter months, this is replaced with Niagara Takes Flight, a flying theatre ride that shows the Falls from an aerial perspective. The helicopter flight (a 12-minute journey above Horseshoe Falls, American Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, and the Niagara River) comes last, giving you the highest vantage point of the day. Throughout, you travel in a Mercedes luxury van with air conditioning and easy maneuverability to spots other tours cannot reach.
