The Experience

The Skylon Tower observation deck puts you 346 meters above the falls. You can step onto the outdoor deck or stay behind floor-to-ceiling windows—either way, the view spans all three falls and, on clear days, reaches as far as Toronto. The guide walks you through the geography and the history while you're standing there, pointing out details most visitors miss. A pram or stroller works fine if you're traveling with infants or small children.

After the tower, you board the Niagara City Cruise and the boat takes you down the Niagara River toward the base of the falls. From the deck you feel the spray and the power of the water in a way the observation deck cannot give you. The boat operates May through December; from January to April, a winter replacement experience substitutes for the cruise. The whole outing takes between one and two hours, and the guide stays with the group to fill in the story as you move between the two vantage points.
